Peter & Felicity's holiday in Bermuda - Part One

Peter and Felicity Walters' holiday in Bermuda - December 2006 - January 2007

It's been a quiet holiday for them with the weather being as tempramental as a two-year-old, although Christmas Day was truly magnificent.

These photos were taken at The Reefs on Christmas Day. We decided it was better to get someone else to do all the cooking and cleaning, while we simply enjoyed the delicious meal.

The weather, as you can see, was splendid and the food was fantastic with various roasts, deserts including mum's favourite chocolate fountain.

On the 26th we went to the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Insitute (photos included).

Mum and dad literally climbed into some of the exhibits and enjoyed their day of exploring Bermuda's rich and sometimes strange (Triangle history) environment.

The Tucker Cross (pictured) was also rather interesting. Of course this is the replica as the original (and valuable) cross was taken by someone with rather sticky fingers.

On the 27th we headed out to the most Eastern part of the Island, also the most historic, St. George's.

The weather was not going to play along and thank goodness mum and dad took the bus while Mark and I followed on our bikes. It poured with rain so hard at one point that mum and dad, who were on a historic walk of the town, were given refuge from the downpour by a kind stranger who opened her front door and allowed everyone to bundle inside. The sky just opened up. Of course the wind was howling at that stage too.

Strange enough when the rain stopped - so did the wind. The day turned out to be rather pleasant and we all walked up some of the narrow little alleys of this quaint town to visit the Unfinished church.

This is an old St. George's custom of dunking the local gossip - always a woman of course.

The water must have been freezing and this young woman - whom I hope got paid a fortune to do this - was screaming from the cold. That was no act.

We also took the folks to our local park, Astwood Park.

They thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the rocks looking out at the ocean.

Astwood Park was badly hit by Fabian in 2003 when the folks were also visiting the Bermuda. Unfortunately you can't get to the little beach down below the cliffs at all now.

Dockyard in December

A ferry trip to Dockyard and an early sunset casts a beautiful glow - worth sharing.

Merry Christmas from Bermuda

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE!!!

Just wanted to put some new photos online from Nadine Cloete in Kimberley (at the moment) and also a fun picture of Santa - Bermuda style.
Nadine: You look like Britney Spears - not sure that's a good thing, but you look great anyway!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and New Year from both Mark and I and visiting Felicity and Peter Walters.

More family photos from Durban

The Beugger family sent these - the latest contributions from the "motorcycle" man and his super sexy gal and a birthday cake fit for a princess - decorated by John Beugger mind you...
