Almost the end of the year - again!

It’s almost December and in less than three weeks’ time Mark’s parents arrive in Bermuda to spend Christmas with us. This will be our first “family” type Christmas since 2001 and we’ve already put up some of the decorations.
As for 2007 – I’ll be starting yet another job, this time with the Mid-Ocean News. It’s the sister newspaper to The Royal Gazette and publishes once a week on Fridays. It’s a much “lighter news” type paper with an amazing, yet small editorial team. I’ll be one of three writers, which should be a wonderful challenge.
I am also starting my online photography course with the Academy of Fine Art University in the States in January.
Mark is still with Independent Consulting Solutions (ICS) and now approaches the run-up to what could be the last two years in Bermuda. We are hoping his contract will renew in 2008 for another 3 years, but we will have a Plan B in place just in case it doesn’t.
He is currently studying for an exam in securities and will be writing that sometime next week.
We do not have any major travel plans for 2007, except perhaps returning to Philadelphia or Boston for shopping over long weekends and possibly Easter. However, the big news is that my folks, Patrick and Christine, will be flying out to Bermuda in July for three weeks. We are very excited about them finally coming all the way out here and trust me, I will have a schedule worked out prior to their arrival which includes swimming with the dolphins, hitting every beach on the Island and taking endless ferry rides and snorkelling trips on Boston Whalers to see the turtles.
So that’s it for now. Have a wonderful Christmas and Festive Season and may all your wishes come true.

Dolphin encounter

So I get sent to the South-western end of the Island to talk to the folks at Dolphin Quest - a local research, entertainment and educational facility with dolphins. I also get to spend some time with one of their dolphins, Ely and this was the result...

Let's just say I think I had more fun than Ely, but she made a lasting impressing on me. Dolphins are misunderstood and more similar to us humans than I think anyone realises.
Was she as happy as me? I would like to think so...
